Happy Canada Day!

canadaday

Did you know:

...that Canada Day was so named on October 27, 1982? Prior to that July 1 was referred to as Dominion Day.

...that the last time a CFL club played an NFL club, the Canadians won? It happened in a pre-season game in 1961 and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats defeated the Buffalo Bills 38-21.

...that is wasn’t until 1980 that O Canada officially became the National Anthem. The Royal anthem remains God Save the Queen.

...that a Canadian was once Prime Minister of Great Britain? Andrew Bonar Law, born in New Brunswick, served as Prime Minister from October 1922 to May 1923.

...that the present day flag of Canada, that wonderful red maple leaf so envied by American travelers overseas, was raised for the first time at noon on February 15, 1965. Go Canada Go!

So, there you have it. To all my fellow Canucks, aw hell – to everybody, tip a cold one and join me in celebrating this great nation.
